Criminal record extract for use abroad

Hello, if you are interested in using a Slovak criminal record extract abroad, an apostille or superlegalization is necessary. An apostille is sufficient for most countries. Procedure:

1. You request the criminal record extract at any post office branch or at the prosecutor’s office.

2. Deliver the original to the address: Legalizačné centrum, Pluhová 17, 831 03 Bratislava. You can also contact the legalization center in Bratislava at 0907 999 909 or office@legalizacnecentrum.sk.

3. The Legalization Center arranges the apostille in Slovakia.

Do you need to request a criminal record extract? The Legalization Center helps in the following situations:

• If you need to arrange the extract electronically (in case you are not in Slovakia) If you have an ID card with a chip (or a foreigner’s residence card) and a BOK code, we can send you instructions on how to obtain an electronic extract. From the electronic version, the legalization center will subsequently arrange:

  • conversion into paper form,

  • apostille,

  • official translation. They ship documents worldwide via Slovak Post or DHL courier (according to your preference).

• If you want to arrange everything in one place (personal assistance) Just come to the Legalization Center in Bratislava with an identity document and a BOK code. They will request the criminal record extract on-site and subsequently arrange the apostille, translation, and dispatch of the document.
