When does a trade license expire?
According to § 57 paragraph 1 of the Trade Licensing Act, the trade license expires:
- Upon the death of a natural person (entrepreneur), unless the heirs or estate administrator continue the trade; however, the license expires no later than the deadline stated in § 13 paragraph 5,
- Upon the dissolution of a legal entity, unless it concerns cases under §§ 14 and 15,
- Upon the expiration of the period if the trade license was issued for a fixed term,
- By decision of the trade licensing office to cancel the trade license according to § 58,
- If stipulated by a special law,
- Upon the expiration of the permitted temporary or permanent residence of the entrepreneur or its cancellation,
- On the date stated in the notification of termination of business; this does not apply if the trade licensing office has started proceedings to cancel the trade license under § 58 paragraph 1 letter c) or § 58 paragraph 2 letter a) or proceedings to impose a fine under this Act.
