When does a trade license expire?

Updated:

According to § 57 paragraph 1 of the Trade Licensing Act, the trade license expires:

  1. Upon the death of a natural person (entrepreneur), unless the heirs or estate administrator continue the trade; however, the license expires no later than the deadline stated in § 13 paragraph 5,
  2. Upon the dissolution of a legal entity, unless it concerns cases under §§ 14 and 15,
  3. Upon the expiration of the period if the trade license was issued for a fixed term,
  4. By decision of the trade licensing office to cancel the trade license according to § 58,
  5. If stipulated by a special law,
  6. Upon the expiration of the permitted temporary or permanent residence of the entrepreneur or its cancellation,
  7. On the date stated in the notification of termination of business; this does not apply if the trade licensing office has started proceedings to cancel the trade license under § 58 paragraph 1 letter c) or § 58 paragraph 2 letter a) or proceedings to impose a fine under this Act.
