READ THE ARTICLESlovak nationals who do not hold a valid Slovak identity document may, if necessary, apply for the issuance of a Certificate of Slovak Citizenship. This document is required not only when applying for a Slovak passport, but also in many other situations—for example, when applying for a Slovak birth certificate for a child born abroad, or for the issuance of a Slovak death certificate. The certificate confirms that you are currently a citizen of the Slovak Republic.
By contrast, a confirmation of Slovak citizenship is used in cases where it is necessary to prove Slovak citizenship retrospectively—as at a specific date or for a given period.
