Yes. The statutory time limit for filing the notification is 90 days from the date of acquisitionof foreign citizenship.

What if I cannot obtain the documents proving my exception within this time limit?

You can file the notification within the time limit and, once the required documents are available,you may submit/supplement them to the Ministry at a later stage.

What is the processing time for the notification?

In this case, the Ministry is not bound by a statutory time limit, therefore the processing time cannotbe predicted. No formal decision is issued in this procedure, which is why the Ministry must becontacted at regular intervals—a step we, of course, handle on behalf of our clients.

Retention of Slovak Citizenship

Have you acquired the citizenship of a foreign state? Under applicable legislation, you are obliged to notify the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic of this fact. At the same time, if you wish to retain your Slovak citizenship, you must, as part of this notification, demonstrate that you meet at least one of the statutory exceptions.
