Slovak Driver’s Record

Did you live in Slovakia in the past and now require proof of your driving history or the validity of your driver’s license for foreign authorities?

When exchanging a Slovak driver’s license for a local one, or when insurance companies determine premium rates, many countries require what is known as an Abstract from the Driver’s Registration Card (Driver’s Record). This document contains your history of traffic violations, any driving bans issued, or confirmation of the vehicle categories you were authorized to drive in Slovakia.

When do you need this record?

  • Driver’s License Exchange: If you are exchanging your Slovak driver’s license for one in a non-EU country or certain EU states that require a certificate of authenticity.
  • Lower Insurance Premiums: Insurance companies abroad (e.g., in the UK, USA, or Canada) often require proof of a “no-claims” history and a record of traffic violations.
  • Employment: If you are applying for a position as a professional driver abroad.

The Difficulty of Remote Acquisition

The Driver’s Record is issued by the Slovak Police Corps based on the location of your last registered residence. For foreigners who no longer reside in Slovakia, it is practically impossible to obtain this document without a personal visit to the police station or a complex postal process, both of which are administratively demanding.

What can we do for you?

Our law firm will fully represent you in this process based on a Power of Attorney that we will prepare.

Our service includes:

  • Application Management: We will prepare all necessary forms and applications.
  • Personal Visit to the Police: Our representative will personally visit the relevant District Traffic Inspectorate to request the record.
  • Apostille and Superlegalization: If you need to use the record in a country outside the EU, we will arrange for higher verification (Apostille) to ensure the document is internationally recognized.
  • Delivery of Documents: We will send the original record to you via courier anywhere in the world.

What will we need from you?

  • A scan of your passport or ID card.
  • A scan of your Slovak driver’s license (if available).
  • A notarized Power of Attorney (we will provide the template, which you can sign abroad before a notary or at a Slovak Embassy/Consulate).

Do you need to obtain your Driver’s Record without the complications? Write to us at recepcia@akmv.sk. Please state the country where you are currently located and the city in Slovakia where you last held residency. We will then send you a price quote.

I engaged AKMV Laf Firm for assistance with renewal of my temporary residency. As expected, the process was not entirely straightforward, and the expert knowledge and experience of AKMV was crucial to both a successful application and providing reassurance to me with what could have been a stressful time. As such, I arrived at the Foreign Police with all the correct documentation and the application was made quickly and without difficulty. Follow-up requirements from the Foreign Police were quickly and precisely addressed by AKMV. The successful application was advised once approved. I have not hesitated to recommend AKMV to other foreigners and will seek their assistance for my immigration needs in the future.
