I want to be a courier. What type of trade license do I need?

If you want to provide courier services, you can register a free trade license under the category: Storage, auxiliary and transport services in transportation. This activity includes:

Storage and auxiliary activities in transportation (packing activities, handling of goods, installation and maintenance of traffic signs and installation of traffic signage, implementation and renewal of horizontal road markings (roads, parking lots, warehouse and production halls), assembly, maintenance, disassembly (permanent or temporary) of vertical traffic signage, providing organizational, technical and information services in transport, sale of air transport services).

Operation of a public warehouse
Note: This applies to agricultural commodities that may be subject to the issuance of a warehouse warrant, i.e., grain, cereals including corn, oilseeds, legume seeds, sugar, and late edible potatoes (STN 642211).

Storage and warehousing
Note: Within the scope of this trade, it is not permitted to carry out: forwarding (regulated trade).

Towing services
Note: Within the scope of this trade, it is not permitted to carry out activities that meet the criteria for goods transport under the Road Transport Act (loading the service subject onto the loading area of a freight vehicle).

Moving services
Note: Within the scope of the trade license, it is allowed to perform: carrying loads within a building, carrying loads from the vehicle into a building and vice versa, loading items into a vehicle, transport from loading to unloading site, unloading from the vehicle, and handling the load from the cargo space of the vehicle to its final location inside the building.

Courier services
Note: Within the scope of this trade, it is not permitted to perform: universal postal service and the sorting of postal items at a distribution center, which can only be carried out under a postal license in accordance with the Postal Services Act.

Providing transport services using non-motorized vehicles (operating ski lifts, transporting persons using non-motorized vehicles such as rickshaws or animal-drawn vehicles). (Source: minv.sk)
