Consultation – citizenship by descent
Are you interested in applying for citizenship based on your ancestry, but unsure whether you meet the requirements? Are you unsure how the process works, what documents you will need, or do you have other questions?
At AKMV, we offer clients an initial consultation where we will go over whether you are eligible to apply for citizenship based on your ancestors. We will advise you on how to obtain documents from your ancestors and go over the list of all the documents that need to be attached to the application, along with deadlines and other requirements.
Tip
An initial consultation is mandatory in order to familiarize ourselves with the facts of the case. During this consultation, we will assess whether and to what extent you meet the conditions for acquiring citizenship through your ancestors. Only then can we offer you comprehensive representation throughout the entire process, including the preparation of the application and representation before the relevant authorities.

Consultation Conditions
- If the conclusion/result of the consultation is not in the client’s favor, the consultation fee will not be refunded.
- The price quote for the consultation is valid for one month from the date it is sent to the client. If the advance invoice is not paid within this period, the quote may be increased in accordance with the current AKMV price list.
- The scope of the consultation is limited to the duration of the consultation, i.e. 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed.
- The client may send supporting documents prior to the consultation, but the consultation does not include the study, review, assessment, commenting, or preparation of documents in advance or during the consultation. The price of the consultation does not include any additional services, such as answering additional questions, further related communication, confirmation of what has already been discussed, legal advice, preparation of opinions, checking documents, or representation.
- The consultation consists of legal advice in the area specified in advance by the client, so we recommend that you describe the situation as accurately as possible and ask questions. Please note that the consultation is prepared based on the information provided by the client in advance, and it is not always possible to answer all additional questions that go beyond what was stated in the previous communication.
- Legal opinions provided during consultations may not always include all possible solutions to a specific case and may not always be considered binding and complete, as it may be necessary to study the case, supporting documents, or additional information in greater depth, which is not possible given the limited time available for consultations.
- We provide legal services exclusively in the Slovak Republic and in accordance with Slovak law. Questions that do not concern Slovak law should be consulted with a lawyer in the relevant country.
- Before the consultation, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with our General Terms and Conditions, and by paying for the consultation, you express your agreement with them.
