The application for granting temporary residence for the purpose of study may be submitted at:
a) the diplomatic mission of the Slovak Republic accredited for the state which issued the applicant’s travel document,
b) the diplomatic mission of the Slovak Republic accredited for the state in which the applicant has residence,
c) the Foreign Police department if:
a. the applicant resides on the basis of a valid residence permit under the Schengen Code,
b. the applicant resides on the basis of granted tolerated residence,
c. the applicant resides on the basis of a granted Schengen visa for the purpose of seasonal employment and the application is for granting temporary residence for the purpose of seasonal employment,
d. the applicant resides on the basis of a granted national visa,
e. the applicant is a third-country national for whom a visa is not required,
f. the applicant is a third-country national who has been granted temporary refuge in the territory of the Slovak Republic,
g. the applicant is a holder of a Certificate of a Slovak Living Abroad.
The diplomatic mission conducts an interview with the applicant for the purpose of preliminary assessment of the application. Subsequently, the application together with the attachments and its opinion on granting temporary residence is forwarded to the locally competent Foreign Police department.
The application for granting temporary residence must be submitted on the official form. On the day of submission of the application, the Police Department issues the applicant a confirmation of receipt.
The applicant is entitled to stay in the territory of the Slovak Republic until the decision on the application, provided that a complete application for granting temporary residence has been submitted. The authorities issue a decision within 30 days from the delivery of the complete application.
